If you don’t seem to care at all, you’re more likely to quit when things get tough. Are you passionate about it, or at least interested? Because if you seem like you care, you’ll work harder and overcome challenges. Then, they want to figure out whether you enjoy the field. Did your parents have scientific careers? Did you fall in love with the topic after an introductory course in college? Etc. If you’re working as a lab scientist they’ll be curious about how you got into it. In this article, we’re going to look at good and bad answers for why you chose this job or career, and word-for-word sample answers for, “why did you choose this career?” So it’s a good idea to think about this when you begin your job search no matter what. They might also ask you a more specific question, like, “why did you choose teaching as a profession?”… or, “why did you want to become a salesperson?” You’re likely to hear interview questions like these whether you’re a recent grad or have decades of experience:
